Quinta dos Urgais Touriga Nacional 2004
The Austrian Wine Challenge (AWC) 2006 had 5118 wines competing from 29 demarcated regions in the five continents of the world. In this international competition DOC Quinta dos Urgais Touriga Nacional 2004 won a silver medal, attesting to the quality of this wine from the Távora-Varosa Demarcated Region.
Made by the oenologist Diogo Frey Ramos, Quinta dos Urgais was produced by a total destemming vinification process. It was fermented in a granite lagar or tank with prolonged maceration and then aged in oak barrels. It is dark ruby in colour and has a clean and brilliant aspect. Its aroma has floral notes of ripe fruit balanced with wood notes. It is full-bodied in the mouth with a balanced acidity, and a long finish with fruit notes. Only 2500 bottles of this single variety wine were produced, making it a “rarity”. |
